Job Title: CAS Accounting Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Client Advisory Services Accounting Manager plays a critical leadership role within the CAS department, overseeing advanced accounting engagements while serving as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of clients. This position is responsible for delivering high quality financial reporting, leading and developing team members, and ensuring firm processes, workflows, and service standards are consistently met. This role requires a strong balance of technical expertise, people leadership, and client relationship management.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule which includes 55+ hours a week during busy periods.

Accounting Managers must possess Bachelor of Accountancy as well as a CPA or EA license.  This may be substituted with equivalent years of experience and continued education in some cases.

KEY COMPETENCIES:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, maintaining a professional, responsive, and solution oriented communication style
  • Take full ownership of client relationships by proactively managing expectations, anticipating needs, and delivering timely service
  • Lead client meetings and present financial information clearly, addressing complex accounting and business questions with confidence
  • Maintain strict standards of confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism across all engagements
  • Identify opportunities to expand services with existing clients and support business development efforts
  • Review advanced accounting work, general ledger activity, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Review financial statements and accounting workpapers for accuracy and completeness in accordance with GAAP or other applicable frameworks
  • Oversee accounting engagements, ensuring quality control and timely deliverable.
  • Provide technical guidance and assist with the resolution of complex accounting issues
  • Stay current on accounting standards, regulatory updates, and emerging technologies
  • Supervise, mentor, and coach staff and senior accountants within CAS
  • Lead scheduling and workflow meetings to ensure effective staff utilization and on time client delivery
  • Oversee firm processes and procedures to ensure workflows are followed and deadlines are met
  • Provide regular feedback, support professional development, and participate in performance evaluations and the mentoring program
  • Lead and participate in internal trainings and contribute to the development of training materials
  • Model professionalism, technical excellence, and firm values through daily conduct
  • Participate in manager meetings, and firm committees
  • Assist with client onboarding, proposal development, and engagement scoping
  • Manage billing and accounts receivable for assigned clients

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • To perform this role successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
  • CPA license preferred
  • Four to six plus years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in public accounting
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of GAAP
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple clients and competing deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and professional judgment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards
  • Ability to develop specialized knowledge in one or more industries
  • Experience with accounting and practice management software, including QuickBooks Desktop and Online, Sage Intacct, Bill.com, Gusto, CCH Engagement, CCH Workstream, Axcess Tax, Adobe Acrobat, and related platforms
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Proven ability to mentor, train, and collaborate effectively with staff

Compensation range for this opportunity is $115,000-$126,000
